What’s Neo in Tokyo is New in Paris
Neo Tokyo first blipped on our radar last October with some choice remixes of Frau Britney and Das Foals (Britney Spears, and Foals, that is — not some bad German mash-up band). Fast forward a half-year, and the Frenchman has just set free his Tronik Youth remix which had been available seulement via myspace stream… until now that is. Took me a couple listens but i’m digging the...

The Presets remixed Sam Sparro
Last year’s electro-pop star Sam Sparro got a great treatment from The Presets. His new single, Pocket is surely a nice song to have under your belt before the Grammy Awards. We didn’t really pay attention to Sam in 2008 and maybe it was the gay-pop-vibe (wonky pop wtf?) that surrounded it and it can get boring. Well, it didn’t. He has remixes from Russ Chimes, The Count and...

Never a Bad Excuse to Bust Out Kylie
Likin’ the groove laid down by Monstr on a track from years gone by, Kylie Minogue’s, Slow. The aforementioned duo, as you could imagine by the sounds of it, forged themselves in those early80s electro-drama days of Yazoo, New Order, et al… but remained in active hybernation for many years until just now unleashing some initial mellow wickedness on us. Their tinkering (as they...

Don’t Get Burnt, Unless it’s by Burns
Some more Burns action courtesy of Linus Loves. We’re not too heavy into the full length playlist stuff but this one is choice. We’re bereft of a whole lotta collateral info but it’s about time homeboy did some touring/EP-ing/album-ing. The smooth tracklist goes somethin’ like this: Intro Dj Mehdi—Tunisia Bambaata Burns—Disko (Radio) Puzique— Dont...

Joe and Will Are Totally on the Same Team
I’ll be honest — I hadn’t paid much mind to this UK-based duo until I noticed they were playing a gig in Budapest last month. I didn’t manage to see the gig, but this CC remix is pleasant. It’s layered and smoothed out while still retaining dance-ability. And there’s a lot more where that came from — including an upcoming release on uber-uber Kitsune. ...

It’s a Music Machine
I have this strange recollection of being in a play called the Music Machine when i was in elementary school. It was about some strange jukebox-like contraption that would play music if you fed it stuff like fruit or whatever, rather than money. The play sucked, but Binary’s latest boy, Short Circuit, is making some nice tunes. If i had to describe in one word: throbbing. Music Machine...

Franz Ferdinand Are Back
Nearly 4 years after their great You Could Have It So Much Better, Franz Ferdinand return to a music scene that has changed a lot. Naturally, the question is if they can remain exciting, relevant, etc in 2009. They’ve been working on the new album since 2007 and the long work came to an end, album is gonna be released on 26th January on Domino (pre-order here). I’m kinda undecided...
